The short version
We collect what you give us to contact a supplier or list a business, and use it only for that. We do not sell personal data, we do not run advertising trackers, and suppliers only ever see enquiries you choose to send them.
Browsing and enquiring need no account. Suppliers who list a business can download everything we hold about them, or delete their account, at any time.
What we collect and why
Supplier accounts. Name, email address and a hashed password (never stored in readable form), used to run your account and listing. Legal basis: providing the service you signed up for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
Enquiries. When you send an enquiry we pass the details you typed (name, email, phone if given, occasion, date, guest count, budget and message) to that supplier, and email you a copy. Legal basis: taking the step you asked us to take (Art. 6(1)(b)). If a listing has not been claimed by the business, your enquiry is not sent to them, and we will not pass your details on without asking you first.
Reviews. If you review a supplier we publish the name, rating, month and words you entered. Ask us any time and we will take your review down. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running honest reviews (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Contact form and feedback. Your name, email and message, used only to reply or to improve the site. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Supplier listings. Business names, contact details, prices, photos and descriptions that suppliers submit. Where a business is a sole trader, some of this is personal data. Legal basis: legitimate interest in running a public directory of party businesses (Art. 6(1)(f)). Any business can correct or remove its listing at any time by emailing us. If you tick the box asking about a website when you list, we pass your contact details to Anchor Web Digital, which is run by the same person as this site, so they can reply about that, and for nothing else.
Supplier activity counts. We count, anonymously, how often each supplier's profile is viewed and how often its enquiry, website, phone, email and Instagram buttons are tapped, so we can show businesses the directory works. These counts contain no IP address, no account and nothing that identifies you.
Security. To stop spam and abuse, our forms briefly hold your IP address in memory to limit how many times they can be submitted. It is not saved to our database. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs for a short period for security and fault-finding.
How long we keep it
Supplier account and listing: for as long as the account exists. Deleting your account removes your sign-in; email us and we will remove the listing too.
Enquiries: kept with the supplier's listing so both sides have a record. Once sent, a copy is also in the supplier's own inbox, which we do not control.
Reviews: for as long as the listing is live, unless you ask us to remove yours.
Contact messages and feedback: kept only as long as needed to deal with them and improve the site.
Newsletter consent records: kept while you are subscribed, and the unsubscribe note kept after.
Your rights
Under GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected, have it deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, take it elsewhere, and withdraw consent at any time.
Suppliers can download their data or delete their account from the listing dashboard. For anything else, email us and we will respond within one month.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
Children
Many of the occasions here are children's, but the site is for adults planning them. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Who controls your data
CelebrationServicesIreland is run by Mark Keating, trading as a sole trader in Ireland, who is the data controller for celebrationservicesireland.ie.
Questions, access requests and erasure requests all go to hello@celebrationservicesireland.ie. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
