How much does a communion outfit cost in Ireland?
Reported prices for communion dresses, veils, shoes and boys' communion suits from Irish retailers, from budget ranges to the high street.

Communion outfit prices vary widely, from budget dresses under €20 to specialist boutiques. Retailers launch new communion ranges early in the year and the Irish press reports the prices. These are the figures reported for recent seasons.
Girls' dresses and accessories
The Paul Costelloe communion range at Dunnes Stores, as reported by the Irish Examiner on 30 January 2025:

The previous year's Dunnes range also had dresses at €130 each, according to the Irish Examiner on 11 January 2024.
At the budget end, Irish retailer Mr Price had communion dresses from €17.99 in 2024, as reported by Her Family on 12 February 2024.

The 2024 range included a lightweight bomber jacket at €40, according to the Irish Examiner.
Putting an outfit together
Using the Dunnes 2025 prices above, a boy's blazer, trousers, white shirt and tie came to €101 before shoes. A girl's dress and patent shoes came to €160 before a veil and other accessories.
These are one retailer's prices. Boutiques and dressmakers charge more, and budget ranges far less, so set a figure before you start shopping.

- Ask about alterations, and leave time for them.
